Stories of Isolation
A global Story.Our Story.
Told through the eyes of
the photographers.
Created in London
in March 2020
Stories of Isolation is a project I initiated in March 2020, at the moment the pandemic brought the world to a standstill. In response to the collective uncertainty, I reached out to photographers and photojournalists across the globe, aiming to build a visual dialogue that reflected our shared experience. Using Instagram as a connective platform, the project became a space where photographers could share their unique perspectives on isolation, resilience, and daily life during an unprecedented time. What emerged was a powerful, global record. Stories of Isolation became both a reflection and a response: a visual archive of a world paused, seen through the lenses of the documentary photographers. Each of us had only the view of our own neighbourhoods and environments, so together we created a global picture of story telling.
Florence, Italy
Sep 2020
As restrictions began to ease during the summer of 2020, I moved to Florence, Italy, and the project evolved for me personally beyond London. I began photographing the streets of the city, and within a few weeks of my arrival the second lockdown was announced. I watched as the tourists disappeared and spent the following six months documenting Florence’s empty streets. Continuing my daily curation, choosing images from all over the world, Stories of Isolation grew into a collective narrative—a visual record of how the world had changed, and continues to change, since 2020.
Exhibition showcase in
Italy 2021
In 2021, an exhibition of 12 selected works from the Stories of Isolation archives was held at the Palazzo Corrado Museum in Lagonegro, Basilicata, Italy. I curated these works into a showcase exhibition, highlighting the essence of the project and its themes of resilience, connection, and human experience. The collection was donated to the museum as a permanent exhibition, allowing the project to continue inspiring and engaging audiences.
